Some thoughts from Sunday
by Jason on May.10, 2009, under Uncategorized
Moms don’t get the credit they deserve…I think for all of us fathers and husbands…who try and give mom a day off on mothers day…we wouldn’t be able to cope it it was Mother’s week or mother’s month…
I don’t think moms know the power they hold. Kelli had it right today, mothers will never have the opportunity to share Jesus with another human as they do in the lives of thier children.
I appreciate Kelli sharing her heart and a little more of her story…no way I could have done as good a job as she did today.
I hope moms (and dads too…) make it a priority to get their own hearts right with Jesus…only then can you be the parent God designed you to be. So go get help…talk with someone, join a group, retrace your steps, do whatever it takes to get your heart right again.
Shooting the “Mothers Day Picture” video was a blast…although I think my back is still a little out of sorts. Thanks Dwight and Brad for joining me and Karla for doing the editing….that is the real hard work!
Next week we are kicking off a series geared toward our men. So if you are a man, are married to a man, are raising a man, or wish you were a man (just for you DN…) you aren’t going to want to miss out on this.
I love being a part of what God is doing at PCC…each week we are getting to pray people who are are sensing God moving in their lives…may it only increase.
Not everyone knows this.

Reading in 1 Corinthians 8. Came across verse 6.
“…there is but one God the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ through through whom all things came and through whom we live.”
Love this. 1 God the father…me made us and we live for him. 1 Lord Jesus Christ…made through him and live through him. That is the truth. That is the truth for every person on the planet.
Paul follows up this great revelation with verse 8….”But not everyone knows this.”
WOW…verse 7 is the truth for every person on the planet…but we live in a world where people don’t know this. They believe there are other God’s or no Gods…they don’t know the truth.
So, for those of us who do know this…we have to get the word out. We live in a world where people don’t know…that is why they do what they do and say what they say. It isn’t just they are are evil…they don’t know they came from God and live for God…they don’t know they were made through Jesus to live through Jesus…they don’t know.
So use your life today in a way that lets them know.
What happened to the church?
by Jason on May.06, 2009, under Uncategorized
Tonight in our life group we talked about the church in the book of Acts and wondered, what happened?
What happened to cause the church of America to look so different? Why don’t we see God moving in the same way? Has he lost his power? It was a long time ago…or have we lost something.
I was thinking about the church as they prayed in Acts and the place they were praying was shaken…I think if the place we were praying started shaking…we would STOP praying and run. We would be so surprised.
I am ready to be a part of a movement of people that so expects for the God to move in supernatural ways we are surprised when it doesn’t happen…not when it does.
After everyone left tonight I was surfing around and read a blog I sometimes read…and guess what he was writing about…see for yourself
A few more thoughts from Catalyst…

We heard from about a dozen of the pastors of the biggest churches in America…and the biggest in Australia.
Guys like Andy Stanley…20k in his church. Rick Warren…20k in his church. Greig Grochel…16K. Jud Wilhite…12K Perry Noble…10K and the list goes on. Ewin McManus, Brian Houston, Francis Chan…ect. And all of these churches (Except Jud Wilhite)…had simalier stories.
The man leading them was the man who started them. And almost instantly the all became mega churches. They all have the “started in a basement/garage/living room with 3 and a half people and six months later were running 500 hundred within a year a 1000 and three years later we baptized the pope” story. And for a lot of ministers out there (or maybe it’s just me) wonder why didn’t that happen to me? So many ministers labor for decades in churches that never grow. They are godly men who lead, love, pray for decades…putting thier blood sweat and tears into churches who never grow into much more than they already are. And this conferance made me wonder why?
Then it hit me…as I listened to each of these speakers speak I think I realize why their churches where they are. The care about lost people more than anything. No I’m serious. As I listened to these men speak I was blown away at how much they want to see people come to Jesus. That truley is their mission. Their mission isn’t getting a paycheck to support their family. It isn’t to get their names on the front of magizines. It isn’t even to build big churches…I honestly believe each of them would be doing exactly what they are doing if every person that came to Jesus went to another church as long as they met Jesus.
Each of them have a passion to share Jesus with people…and they don’t care about anything else. No wonder their churches are so big. It isn’t about lights or music or facilies…they each had thousands before those things came into play. It is about a single minded vision of seeing people come to Jesus. I walked away from my two days at catalyst asking god to give me that. Not the fancy building or the spectacular speaking skills…but and unending passion to see people come into a saving relationship with Jesus.
There are a lot of people (preachers mostly) who look at the pastors of the mega churches and put them down…mostly to make themselves feel better about their own lifeless church. But I for one…get why they are were they are. Thier consuming passion is to lift up Jesus…and when they do the promise of scripture comes life…and he draws men to himself.
May their tribe increase…and may I be one of them.
